Introduction
At The Horizon Foundation, we've always taken a broad view of community health and wellness. Our approach has always been strategic in addressing the current needs of a diverse and rapidly urbanizing population. But in the past year, we went a step further. We looked beyond the day-to-day needs of our residents to think about future needs. After all, to be truly healthy, our community also must be resilient — we must be able to respond quickly and then recover quickly if disaster strikes. That's all the more important in these uncertain times.
In this Annual Report, you'll read about some of the ways The Horizon Foundation is helping to create a resilient community.
From establishing the Community Emergency Response Network to helping young people grown into competent, caring, reliable adults, Howard County is, indeed, preparing for the future. The Foundation is pleased to support these preparations. And we believe they're important. After all, if disaster strikes, it's our local institutions that will preserve and repair the fabric of community life.
