Citizen Advisors Distinguish Horizon Councils

The Horizon Foundation's citizen advisory groups, the Horizon Councils, spent the past year on a wide variety of initiatives. In Ellicott City, Elkridge, Southeast and Western Howard County, members meet monthly to discuss issues of interest to their communities and forward their concerns and recommendations to Horizon staff.

In the past year, the Horizon Councils have coordinated intergenerational activities in Elkridge, hosted a series on student achievement, and sponsored a health expo in Southeast and family programs focusing on substance abuse, teen sexuality and Internet use in Western Howard County.

Elkridge Horizon Council members include Dace Blaumanis, Ann Bromery, Rita Chelton, Fran Donaldson, Raymond Faith, Barb Kendrick, Phil Lord, Tom Saunders and Jeanne Slater.

Ellicott City Horizon Council members include Ronnie Bohn, Carla Buehler, Catherine Chapman, Phyllis Greenbaum, Sandy Harrington, Pat Heineman, James LeMon, Ruth Newton, Pastor Billy Park, Jackie Ring and Jared Spahn.

Southeast Horizon Council members include Dace Blaumanis, Tamara Burketh, Vidia Dhanraj, Lori Fuchs, Carolyn Jameson, Lisa Kawata, Diane Li, Monterey Morell, Arlene Paul, Rachel Qualls, Donna Thewes and Jeff Williams.

Western Horizon Council members include Rev. Lisa Bandel-Sparks, Puzz Brightwell, Barbara Dandridge, Betty Frey, Susan Stonesifer and Margaret E. Schultz.
