Friday, October 21, 2005

(The Baltimore Sun) --

A series of mock scenarios, part of Howard County's Community Readiness Week, were held to help ready the County's first responders to fine-tune disaster response plans. The County introduced several new preparedness efforts, such as a Community Notification System and the activation of a Medical Reserve Corps Unit who will be called upon to aid the public health infrastructure in case of emergency.

Community Readiness Week was a Leadership Summit hosted by the Howard County Government, Howard County Chamber of Commerce and CERN, the Community Emergency Response Network, which is chaired by Rich Krieg, president and CEO of The Horizon Foundation.
