Medical
Reserve Cops seeks volunteers
The
Howard County Medical Reserve Corps is seeking
medical and health professionals to volunteer
on local emergency response
teams.
Volunteers would assist during
major regional emergencies, including
hurricanes, floods, acts of terrorism, chemical
or hazardous material spills and epidemics such
as the flu.
The Medical Reserve Corps,
which was created in 2002 in response to the
terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, is
recruiting physicians, nurses, pharmacists,
dentists, veterinarians, epidemiologists,
infectious disease specialists, mental health
professionals, therapists and social
workers.
Volunteers' duties could
include working in immunization clinics,
providing health-related phone consultations,
contributing to health education efforts and
assisting in the event of a terroist attack or
outbreak of an infectious disease.
