Health Professionals Sought for Program

(The Sun in Howard) --
Medical and health professionals are needed to
serve as volunteers in the Howard County
Medical Reserve Corps.
Physicians,
nurses, pharmacists, infectious-disease
specialists, epidemiologists, dentists,
veterinarians and other professionals are also
being sought.
The volunteers will
support local emergency response teams in the
event of a major natural or manmade disaster in
the region, such as chemical or hazardous
materials spills, flu and other epidemics,
hurricanes, floods and acts of terrorism.
Some volunteers can offer support by phone
consultation.
The volunteers should be
prepared to help family, friends and neighbors
in an emergency. They may receive
training on state-of-the-art health topics and
can earn continuing education
credits.
