Chase Brexton Opens Columbia Health Center
Sunday, October 1, 2006
(The Business Monthly) --
Chase Brexton Health Services, a
Baltimore-based company that operates
community health centers, has opened its third
site in Maryland at 5500
Knoll North Drive in Columbia's Village of
Oakland Mills.
The establishment of the center comes after a
survey completed by the
Maryland Community Health System (of which
Chase Brexton is a founding
member) revealed that local residents with
insufficient health
insurance needed assistance in accessing health
care.
The Columbia Center of Chase Brexton Health
Services initially received
funds from The Horizon Foundation to assess the
community's needs for
affordable health care. The new facility will
provide the surrounding
community with a range of primary and
preventive care, mental health
and case management services.
In the near future, the new center will also be
the first Chase Brexton
location to offer consultations in integrative
medicine, a broad
approach to health care that focuses on healing
and enhancing wellness
through a combination of conventional and
complementary medicine.
"Our primary objective in Columbia is to
provide a health care home for
everyone, regardless of his or her age, gender,
ethnicity, sexual
orientation, current medical condition or
socioeconomic status," said
David Shippee, executive director for Chase
Brexton.
