Horizon Council and Glenwood Library Host Family Communication Night - Dinner and Program Designed for Middle Schooler Students and Their Parents

The Western Horizon Council and the Glenwood
Branch Library
are hosting a Family
Communication Night on Monday, March 31,
at the library. Dinner will be
served at 6:30 p.m., followed
by a special program, from
7-8:30 p.m., for middle school students
and their parents. The subject
of the Family Communication Night
is "Teen Friendships, Dating
and Sexuality."
Students and parents will
have an opportunity to both meet separately
and together during the
evening's discussions. Facilitators are
Glenwood resident Peggy
Schultz, a Pupil Personnel Worker for
the Howard County Public
School System, and Laura Smit, Coordinator
of the Howard County Coalition
for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention.
The Western Horizon Council
is an advisory group made up of
people who live and/or work in
Western Howard County communities.
The group advises The Horizon
Foundation about issues of significance
and makes recommendations
about ways to address those issues.
Western Horizon Council
members include Lt. A.J. Bellido deLuna
of the Howard County Police
department, journalist Puzz Brightwell,
River Hill High School
Assistant Principal Barbara Dandridge,
Betty Frey of the Western
Howard County Senior Center, community
activists Mary Frances Gosnell
and Don Hardesty, Lisa Bandel-Sparks
of Lisbon United Methodist
Church, and Glenwood Branch Library
Manager Susan Stonesifer.
The Glenwood Library is located at 2350 Route 97 in Cooksville. There is no admission fee for Family Communication Night. Free babysitting is available by reservation only. Seating is limited for the dinner and program, and reservations are required. Call 410-313-5577.
