Family Health Fair at Murray Hill Middle School - Screenings, Demonstrations, Displays and Entertainment

Murray Hill Middle School and the Southeast
Horizon Council
will host "Fun, Food &
Fitness Family Health Expo" on
Saturday, March 22, 10 a.m-2
p.m., at Murray Hill Middle School.
The event will include free
blood pressure, dental, vision and
breast health screenings and
fitness demonstrations by the Laurel
Woods Pep Squad, First Step
Fitness and Horangi Martial Arts
Studio. The Murray Hill Middle
School Jazz Band will perform.
Over 40 health and human
services organizations will have displays
at the Expo. Among the
participants are the Howard County Child
Resource Center, Domestic
Violence Center, Family and Children's
Services of Central Maryland,
Foreign-born Information and Referral
Network, Grassroots Crisis
Intervention Center, Howard County
Library, Howard County Office
on Aging, Rescue Dogs, STTAR Center
and others.
The Balloon Man and Beowulf The
Wonder Bunny will entertain
children, and there will be
face painting and door prizes. The
first 200 families will receive
free first aid kits. Free bag
lunches will be provided.
Children must be accompanied by
an adult. There is no admission
fee, and the public is invited
to attend. Murray Hill Middle

The Southeast Horizon Council
is an advisory group made up of
people who live and/or work in
the North Laurel and Savage communities.
The group advises The Horizon
Foundation about issues of significance
in the North Laurel and Savage
areas and makes recommendations
about ways to address those
issues.
Members of the Southeast Horizon Council include Tudy Adler of Big & Tall Corporation; community activists Corrinne Arnold and Lori Fuchs; journalist Lisa Kawata; Murray Hill Middle School Principal Carolyn Jameson; Donna Thewes, community liaison for the North Laurel Community Police Office; and Karen Trennepohl, manager of the Savage Branch of the Howard County Library.
The Horizon Foundation addresses health and wellness issues through strategic grantmaking, community initiatives, and partnerships with private and public institutions. It is a community health foundation that takes a broad view of health. The Foundation is committed to helping build a healthy and resilient community in Howard County, MD.
