Family Health Expo at North Laurel Community Center Free Health Services, Screenings, Entertainment

The Southeast Horizon Council will host the eighth annual Family Health Expo on Saturday, Sept. 24, 10 a.m-1:30 p.m., at the new North Laurel Community Center. The event is designed to provide the residents of Laurel and Savage with access to Howard County's health and human service providers.
The Health Expo will include free
blood pressure, cholesterol, vision, hearing,
and other screenings. Dental professionals
will be providing both adult and child dental
screenings. A mobile food pantry will be on
site distributing food for those that
qualify.
Organizations participating in the Family Health Expo include Chase Brexton Health Services, Howard County General Hospital, North Laurel-Savage Multiservice Center, Howard County Health Department and local human services providers.
The Balloon Man will entertain children,
and a disc jockey will play music. Free
box lunches will be provided while supplies
last.
Children must be accompanied by an adult. No skateboards will be allowed in the building. There is no admission fee, and the public is invited to attend. The North Laurel Community Center is located at 9411 Whiskey Bottom Road. There will be free round-trip shuttle service from the Dollar Store at the Whiskey Bottom Shopping Center to the North Laurel Community Center from 9:45 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.
The Southeast Horizon Council is an advisory group made up of people who live and/or work in the North Laurel and Savage communities. The group advises The Horizon Foundation about issues of significance in the North Laurel and Savage areas and makes recommendations about ways to address those issues.
The mission of The Horizon Foundation is to improve the health and wellness of people living and working in Howard County. This is accomplished by implementing innovative programs focusing on intervention, prevention, health education and maintenance, conducting planning initiatives, participating in public policy activism, grantmaking and strategic partnerships with others.
