Horizon Foundation Announces New Trustees

The Horizon Foundation has
announced the appointment of six
new Trustees. With
current Trustees, the
Foundation’s Board is now comprised of 25
members.
Padriac
M. Kennedy, Horizon Foundation Board Char said,
“we
are very pleased to welcome these six
distinguished community leaders to our
Board. Each one has had immeasurable impact in
improving health and wellness in
the county.”
“These
new Trustees are all remarkable people,”
said
Foundation President and Trustee Richard M.
Krieg. “As
individuals and as a group they will be
of great value to the Foundation as we move
our community agenda forward.”
The new
Foundation Board members are:
Michael H. Kelemen,
MD, is a cardiologist at the Columbia
Regional
Medical
Center. He has served as a
member of the Health
Alliance Board of Directors and a volunteer
there. He has been
active in the American Heart
Association and, with his wife, very involved
with the arts community and was
named Outstanding Community Supporter of the
Arts by the Howard County Arts
Council. He serves on the board of the
Maryland Museum of African Art. He lives
in Columbia.
Pam Mack was
Executive Director of the Health Alliance for
the past five years.
Prior to that, she was vice president
of
community relations for The Columbia
Association. Her
civic work includes chairing The Columbia
Association Board of Directors and serving on
the boards of The Columbia
Foundation, the Columbia Festival of the Arts,
Foreign-born Information and
Referral Network and the Howard County Chamber
of Commerce, among other
activities. She lives in Columbia.
Dr. David A. Anderson,
is the Senior Pastor of the 2,000-member
Bridgeway
Community
Church
in Columbia,
where he has served for 12 years. The author
of “Multicultural Ministry:
Finding Your Church’s Unique Rhythm,” he
offers diversity training and is the
host of a Christian radio talk show. He is a
former member of the board of The
Columbia Foundation.
He lives in Ellicott City.
Mary Ann
Scully
is President and CEO of Howard Bank. She is a
past Howard County Campaign Chair
of the United
Way
and serves on the Howard County United Way
Partnership Board.
She is a trustee and serves on the
Finance,
New Ventures and Planned Giving committees of
the Howard Community College
Foundation Board.
She is vice chair of
the Howard County Women’s Giving
Circle and
co-chair of the Grassroots Renovation
and Expansion Campaign. She is currently
serving on The Columbia Foundation
Board of Trustees. She lives in West
Friendship.
John B.
Isbister
is a partner with the Baltimore
law firm of Tydings & Rosenberg LLP. He
has served as vice chair of the
Howard County General Hospital Board of
Trustees and was a member of the boards
of directors for the Howard County Police
Foundation, Leadership
Howard
County
and the United Way
Community Partnerships. He also served on the
board of directors for the University of
Maryland Law
School Fund and Law Alumni
Association, and was chair of the University of
Maryland Law School
Club. He lives in
Columbia.
Floyd J. Malveaux,
M.D., PH.D., heads the National Childhood
Asthma Program for the Merck
Company Foundation.
He is former dean of
the College of
Medicine,
Howard University. While there he also
served as chairman of the
Department of Microbiology and Vice Provost
for Health Affairs. He is a fellow
of the American
Academy
of Allergy, Asthma and
Immunology is a nationally recognized expert
on asthma and allergic diseases
and has published and lectured extensively.
Dr. Malveaux is the recipient of
numerous awards, including the National
Research Service Award from the
National Institutes of Health. He is a resident
of Ellicott
City.
The Horizon Foundation,
Howard County’s
largest philanthropy, has assets of $84
million. It is a
strategic, action-oriented foundation
dedicated to improving community health and
wellness.
