Teenage Relationships Subject of Workshop - Program for Middle School Students and Their Parents

The Southeast Horizon Council, The Coalition
for Healthy Youth and the Savage Branch Library
are hosting a free dinner and workshop,
"Crushes, Going Out and Pressures to be
‘Sexy’", for middle school students and
their parents on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 6:30-8:30
p.m., at the library.
Dinner will be
served at 6:30 p.m., and the program begins at
7 p.m. The workshop will include joint and
separate sessions for the students and parents
in attendance.
The program will be
repeated at the Miller Branch Library on Oct.
11, 6:30-8:30 p.m.; at the Savage Branch on
Oct. 14, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.; and at the
Glenwood Branch on Oct. 18, 6:30-8:30
p.m. All sessions include a free dinner
and program, except the afternoon workshop on
Oct. 14, which will feature snacks but not a
full meal.
The Southeast Horizon Council
is an advisory group made up of people who live
and/or work in the North Laurel and Savage
areas. The group advises The Horizon
Foundation about issues of significance and
makes recommendations about ways to address
those issues.
The Coalition for Healthy
Youth (CHY) is made up of professionals in
Howard County who promote open and honest
communication about healthy relationships and
sexuality through outreach, education and
advocacy. CHY was formerly the Coalition for
Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention.
The
Savage Branch Library is located at 9525
Durness Lane. There is no admission fee for
either the dinner or the workshop, but
