Chase Brexton Hosts Community Open House Health Center Celebrates Columbia's Birthday

Chase Brexton Health Services will hold a Community Open House at its Columbia center on Wednesday, June 20, 5-7 p.m., as part of the city’s 40th birthday celebration. Highlights include a brief program, refreshments and tours of the facilities.

"We have had an opportunity to get established at our Columbia offices," said Executive Director David Shippee, "and we are eager to show off our new quarters to the community."

Housed in offices in Twin Knolls North, the center provides primary adult medical care, pediatrics, women’s health services, mental health services, case management, counseling, testing and referral services. Chase Brexton participates with multiple insurance and managed care plans. For uninsured, underinsured and low-income patients, Chase Brexton Health Services offers a sliding fee scale and help accessing state and federal assistance programs.

"Consistent with the vision of Columbia's founder, Jim Rouse, the health center brings together people from all walks of life," Shippee added.

Chase Brexton received funding from The Horizon Foundation to assess the community's need for affordable health care and determined, through a study conducted by Maryland Community Health System, that a need existed. With help from Horizon, Chase Brexton, which has offices in Baltimore and in Randallstown, extended its services into Howard County.

"It is fitting that Chase Brexton hold its open house during the 40-day celebration of Columbia’s 40th birthday," said Horizon President and CEO Richard M. Krieg. "Columbia’s founding and history have supported values of diversity, inclusion and access," he noted, "and Chase Brexton is here to serve residents needing primary care including Medicare and Medicaid recipients as well as Howard County residents lacking access to readily available and affordable primary health care."
