November 2025 Newsletter: Happy Thanksgiving, The Roving Radish and more!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Have a happy, healthy Thanksgiving! There is no question that this past year has been one of challenge, stress and uncertainty. More than ever, we are grateful to this Howard County community and to all of our partners and grantees who have worked tirelessly to serve and care for our residents, friends and neighbors – and to continue to fight for systemic solutions that will make Howard County a better place for everyone. From all of us here at the Horizon Foundation, we wish you and your loved ones a happy, healthy and restful Thanksgiving.

Farmers market season may be ending, but The Roving Radish’s Mobile Marketplace is still rolling! Each week, the Mobile Marketplace brings fresh, local produce to neighborhoods across Howard County – all at low prices. And if you qualify for government assistance programs such as SNAP, WIC or Medicaid, the produce is available to you at a further discounted price.

As we’ve seen in recent weeks and months, it is critical that fresh, healthy, affordable food is accessible to everyone in our community. Check out the Mobile Marketplace’s weekly schedule to get healthy, affordable produce today!

Speak(easy) Howard got published!

Many of you worked with us during our Speak(easy) Howard campaign several years ago. For nearly 8 years, the campaign worked to encourage residents to name their health care agent, embed advance care planning throughout the community and help normalize having these difficult conversations. We are proud of everything we accomplished together – and now we can add getting published to the list! Recently, members of the Foundation co-authored an academic paper that evaluated the adoption of advance care planning through this community-based campaign. You can learn more about the study here.
