Janet Olajide, MBA, CNAP

Janet Olajide is a seasoned management accountant with a specialty in the nonprofit sector. For more than 25 years, Janet has built track record of ensuring nonprofit organization fiscal solvency, compliance with governing laws and regulations and maintenance of fiscal policies that support internal controls. She is a strategic thinker and supports the achievement of organizational missions through sound fiscal practices and efficient management.

At the Horizon Foundation, Janet performs fiscal functions under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer. Janet is responsible for management of Accounts Payable functions, budget management, independent contractors and grants payable management, annual audit preparation and 990 filings.  She collaborates with all members of the organization on fiscal related matters.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Janet spent 25 years at MPPI in Baltimore. MPPI is a treatment foster care organization serving children in out-of-home placement throughout Maryland.  At MPPI, Janet serves as the Chief Financial Officer and oversees the budgeting process, financial reporting, annual audit preparation, cash management, grant management, board reporting and compliance with funder’s deliverables.  Janet is involved in advocacy work for funding that support children’s mental, social and emotional well-being. She has championed many initiatives to support well-being of the homeless population in the Highlandtown Community.

Janet is an advocate for children’s education in Howard County Public Schools System and has served in several officer positions in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) in various schools in the County. In Harpers Choice Middle School, Janet served as the PTA President and Vice President from 2015-2017. For several years while her three children were at Clemens Crossing Elementary School in Columbia, Maryland, Janet volunteered in different roles including recording secretary, School Improvement Team (SIT) rep, and assisted in organizing several community programs for children like the 5 mile WALK-A-Thorn at Clemens Crossing Elementary School.

Janet holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with concentration in Accounting from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts; a graduate Certificate in Forensic Accounting from the American University in Washington, D.C.; a Masters of Business Administration and currently is a candidate of Doctoral Degree in Management with focus on Organizational Leadership at the University of Phoenix. She also holds a degree in Practical Theology from International Seminary in Florida and is an ordained Evangelist with Christ Apostolic Church Mission. She is also a member of several professional organizations including Accounting & Financial Women Alliance (AFWA), National Association of Professional Women, Institute of Internal Auditor, and Institute of Management Accountants.

Janet is the proud wife of Isaac Olajide and the mother of Emily, Esther and Emmanuel.
