Tell the Maryland General Assembly: Add 100 health care workers to help 130,000 Marylanders keep their healthcare coverage!

In a matter of months, new federal rules will make it harder for 320,000 Medicaid enrollees living in Maryland to keep their health insurance coverage. Many experts agree that up to 130,000 of them will likely lose their coverage mostly due to application and paperwork issues.

Many Marylanders who rely on Medicaid will turn to their local health department to get help, but they do not currently have the staff to help all of those who will need it. They need 100 extra health care worker positions across the state to handle this workload. Without these new workers, many will wait in lines, have care delays and ultimately lose their health insurance coverage.

We need your help! Tell the Maryland General Assembly to:

  1. Add 100 health workers to the state budget to help Medicaid enrollees keep their health insurance coverage.
  2. Pass SB 987. This bill will take away a Maryland tax break given to drug companies for running those drug ads you see all the time on TV, in magazines, etc., and instead put the money into funding these Medicaid health care workers AND making health insurance more affordable through the Maryland Health Connection.

And did we mention that Maryland voters LOVE these ideas? We just released a poll that showed overwhelming and bipartisan voter support for Medicaid, adding health care workers to help people stay enrolled and SB 987. Send a message to the General Assembly today to make sure Marylanders don’t lose their health insurance!
